Keen Commuter SPD-compatible Sandals - New Gear

April 26, 2008

Keen sandals alone are some of the most versatile footwear on the market today. Going from the river to the trail and around town has never been so easy. And all that with the extreme toe protection to keep your toes intact--something that can't be said for other sandals from Teva or Chaco. Now, combine the Keen Newport sandal with an SPD-compatible sole and you've now got the all-new Keen Commuter sandal. Part sandal, part bike shoe and a whole lot of versatility. Commute to work, slog around at the office from 9-5 with these sandals on, then slip out after work for a ride back home--all with the same pair of breathable sandals. I never would have thought that a pair of sandals could be this versatile. Features of the Keen Commuter Sandals Full-length SPD-compatible plate (in sandals... cool!) Newport-style uppers (low-key styling) Removable metatomical footbed (for easy washing) Non-marking outsole (for pickup basketball games) MSRP: $115 The new Keen Commuter SPD-compatible sandals are the do-it-all shoes for those who like to live with one foot on the singlespeed and another in a kayak. These things are versatile and cool. You're not going to get the same pedal connection as you would with your Sidi's, but you will be hard-pressed to find a sandal that can do as much as the new Keen Commuters. The soles are stiff so as to still transfer as much power directly to the pedals as possible. I think the best application of the Keen Commuters are for people like me who have clipless Crank Brothers pedals on all my bikes, but want to kick around the neighborhood with a bike trailer hauling the kids. I'd much rather slip into some Keen sandals instead of putting on my full-on biking shoes. Read my full review of the Keen Commuter Sandals. Buy Now: Keen Commuter Sandals ar REI
